Matt gained a BSc (hons) degree from Southampton Solent University in 2014 in the field of health and exercise science. This degree opened up a broad knowledge set around sport, exercise and the human body. Studying a range of subjects including exercise physiology and psychology, biomechanics and specialising in sports massage therapy, postural correction and functional exercise. During and since graduating Matt has gained vital experience assessing, treating and training a range of different populations including medical referrals, older adults sports and postural injuries and athletes of various disciplines and levels of competition, including providing pre and post sports massage at various events including the London Marathon. Matt will soon complete a postgraduate diploma in soft tissue therapy and corrective exercise as well as a hot stones massage course and is enrolled on a master’s degree in Sports Therapy MSc, starting in September; through this Matt hopes to gain more knowledge and experience treating athletes as well as clinical populations. Outside of education and work Matt is a keen sportsman participating in any sport that he gets the chance to try, having competed in many sports growing up. He is also a keen follower of Gloucester and England rugby, though is unable to play fully anymore due to injury. Matt enjoys a good read, fiction of factual, especially if on the beach with a barbeque burning and a surfboard close by.
